Sharpe Dunaway is a radio personality on The Point 94.1, but long before he played your favorite classic rock songs on the radio he beat on drums. HARD!
He and bandmate Darrell Yates were members of The Screaming Santas, a hard rock Christmas band that shipped their 2 CD's "A Very Hairy Christmas" & "Going Insane At Christmas" to place all over the world.
The band split after their holiday obligations in 2002. Shortly after, Screaming Santas vocalist Erik Johnson and basist Ty Sims went on to form Bombay Black who are now signed to Kivel Records out of New York.
It took Sharpe 4 years of begging Darrell to pick up his guitar and make some noise again before he caved in and bought an insanely LOUD Marshall amp. The Blue Meanie lineup was complete when Danny Milsaps formerly of a band called Haven signed on for vocals and old friend and original bass player James Bargar traded his 6 string for 4 to take bass duties. Shortly after our first show we all decided we needed THE RIGHT keyboardist for the band, and boy did we find him! Insert Alan Cost. This guy plays everything...keyboards, guitar and drums!
And ever since Alan joined the fun, The Meanies have never sounded better!
Our friend James left the band in March of 2008 and was replaced by Matt Hays.
We shortend the name of the band to 'The Meanies' at the start of 2009 but people still want to call us The Blue Meanies or Sharpe Dunaway & The Blue Meanies. Heck you can call us whatever you want....just call us!
The Meanies have had the honor of opening for... BLUE OYSTER CULT ALICE COOPER BRET MICHAELS of Poison TOMMY SHAW (Styx) & JACK BLADES (Nightranger) GREAT WHITE KC & THE SUNSHINE BAND (Seriously!) LOU GRAMM of Foreigner WARRANT and others...
The Meanies will play the music that defined the 80s ROCK era...and a little more!
SEE YA SOON!
